This little shop seems to be one of the many small "corn" shops that once dotted the rail lines across the state. The use of the word "corn" indicated to a farmer any crop that grew kernels on an ear or the end of a stalk. Potatoes were also a common fare and they were set up to handle any less than carload freight in a boxcar, or on a flat car.
It was built in 1894-95 of a wood construction, and is now under the care of the Monmouth Museum. A passenger station once stood in the area of the parking lot across the tracks.
